
Protection for the ‘commons’:
The 'commons' must be held and managed in the public interest. The shared public trusts are water, air, fish & wildlife, our parks & protected areas, cultural & intellectual assets, and amenities such as health care, education, public utilities and infrastructure.
In Your Daily Life
· Educate yourself about the importance of biodiversity
· Use parks and public places
· Take down your fence, encourage your neighbours to do the same, create a common centre and common garden and commonalities J - an urban eco-village
In the Community
· Support groups such as Peninsula Streams & Friends of Tod Creek Watershed
· Community gardens
· Reinforce the Saanich Urban/Rural boundaries
Provincial Government Policy
· Socialism is not a bad idea – we share the cost – we should also share the profit
· Ensure protection of public assets (eg. Juan de Fuca lands) is enabled by fair public representation (eg. All CRD members voting); no sales of public lands
· Implement regulations for the use of carbon
