Winter Socks for Everyone!
Last week was Groundhog Day – the day we turn to a rodent for weather wisdom. Marmots, groundhogs – same species so it makes sense for us to take Van Isle Violet's winter prediction over an east-coast rodent of another name. Sadly she decided that we will in fact enjoy another six-weeks of winter bliss. For the more science-minded among us, Environment Canada has been hinting about white stuff in our near future as well. Either way we are reminded that winter is still upon us, and sadly, its wrath is not over, not is it shared equally.
What more cold and wet means for some may be quite different than what it means to the more vulnerable members of our community. Warm, and dry can be a huge challenge for those that are living in the rough – and feet can be particularly vulnerable.
That's why we're once again asking the public to consider donating a pair – or four – of new,
adult socks. So that we might see that all of us are at lease somewhat warm and dry, until the spring takes over.
