Dear Saanich South,

Many of you know that I was a full-time farmer before entering politics, so I really enjoy reconnecting with farmers and value their ideas for improving agriculture in BC. As the Agriculture Critic, I am very excited to be participating in the Farmer2Farmer conference this Thursday.

This event, allowing farmers to network extensively, was organized by the CR-FAIR (Capital Region Food and Agriculture Initiatives Roundtable) and features a full day of farmer-focused learning. Some of the items on the agenda include workshops on selecting crops and preserving excess products; discussions exploring farm planning and institutional selling; and expert panels sharing information about organic certification and direct marketing.

I am honoured to be a part of the welcome wagon, along with other officials. From 11:30 – noon, I will host a Q&A session, “Grill Your Agriculture Critic”, before I head back to the Legislative Assembly.

To register, or for more information, check out their website http://farmer2farmer.ca/. Only one more day to register!
