Great news! Our
government is working on a made-in-BC paid sick leave program because we
believe that no worker should have to choose between going to work sick or
losing pay.
Approximately
50% of BC’s workers do not have access to paid sick leave. This means that
upwards of one million workers will benefit from paid sick leave! Our paid sick leave program is coming into effect on January 1st, 2022.
We’re inviting workers,
employers, and all other interested parties to give feedback on how many days
of paid leave are provided. Visit https://engage.gov.bc.ca/paidsickleave/
anytime before 4PM on October 25th to have your say! At this time, the engagement survey is only available in English but early next week the survey will also be available in Punjabi, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, and Tagalog.
